5 Tips for Creating a More Peaceful Home
Remember last week when I said you didn’t have to turn down your stereo to create a more relaxing home? Yeh, scratch that. This week we’re talking about the power of music and how it can influence your mood at home.
Tune In
Music is a great way to relax, so why not bring it into your home, too? If you have a smart speaker or a virtual assistant like Alexa or Google Home, set it to start playing your favorite relaxing tunes a few minutes before you get home so that when you walk in the door after that grueling commute you’re greeted with calm. Studies have shown that your pets will enjoy the music, too. Bonus!
One extra note about technology in the home: whenever possible I like to keep my technology turned off and definitely out of the bedroom. We do not have a TV in the bedroom and have adopted the no phones after 11 pm rule. While we do have phones in our room for late night emergency phone calls, they are on our dresser and not our nightstands so we’re not tempted to indulge in late-night surfing which deprives us of precious sleep. If you work a job that requires a few late nights on the computer, I suggest installing F.Lux. This little charm saves your eyes and your sleep cycle by slowly adjusting your monitor to adapt to the time of day. Try it here: https://justgetflux.com/
Next week we wrap up the design tips with one final tidbit! What a blast it’s bee. See you on the flip side.
